Off Course is part of a series of sculptures exploring the idea of maps as a context for experience. This sculpture is organized within the format of the golden rectangle, an ancient greek mathematical relationship of numbers where the sides of the rectangle are 1-1.6.

Off Course explores the dynamic of working within a structure (the spiral spinning within the rectangular format) but as the spiral picks up speed, it begins to move in an unintentional direction, culminating just outside of the space where it was intending to remain.
